This project entailed the installation of two observation elevators in the Landside Terminal Building at the Pittsburgh International Airport. The project also included a new Information Kiosk on the Transit Level. The elevators serve the Baggage Level, Transit Level and the Ticketing Level. The work was performed, during off peak hours, while the building was in operation and required a considerable amount of temporary construction to protect the users of the facility. The hydraulic elevators are supported by an open frame steel structure with exposed mechanical, electrical and operating systems. The project included removal of a portion of the exiting Ticket Level Floor and the installation of a translucent glass floor to provide natural light to the space below. The project also included removal and rerouting of existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, communication, fire suppression and fire alarm systems to install the elevators.
