During the course of this project, Management Engineering Corporation oversaw the installation of a new Runway Lighting System, new Taxiway Lighting System, two (2) new PAPI Navigational Air Systems, new Rotating Light Beacon, new Wind Cone Assembly, twenty two (22) Guidance Signs and all the associated conduit, wiring, power and control systems.
Incorporated into the construction of this project were over 31,000 LF of underground conduit, over 70,000 LF of wiring, 18 electrical hand holes, 19 electrical junction boxes and 340 new Runway/Taxiway lighting fixtures. The project also included the fabrication of 35 structural concrete bases for the installation of 22 Taxiway/Runway Guidance signs, 2 PAPI Navigational Systems, a REIL light system and the Wind Cone Assembly.
The incorporation of a new power supply system and control wiring system required the reconfiguration of the existing Airport Electrical Vault and the Airport Lighting Control Panel located in the existing Airport Control Tower. There were 3 new 7.5KV regulators installed in the vault and one new 10KV regulator for overall system supply and transformers for 600V feeds to the new PAPI systems. New control wiring, including data processors for air to ground system control were installed in the control tower, and a new system control panel was integrated into the existing tower cab control panel.
The Runway 28 PAPI system and some existing FAA equipment were integrated into the new system in the spring of 1999 and final grading and seeding took place at this time.
